
Visit Historic Claremore
After Will Rogers' tragic death in 1935, the State of Oklahoma built the magnificent Will Rogers Memorial overlooking Claremore in 1938. This Memorial Museum houses the full collection of Will Rogers' writings and lots of memorabilia. Come and visit to learn about America's Cowboy Philosopher.
Will's Birthplace is also just 12 miles North near Oologah, OK. Make the short drive to see the "White House on the Verdigris" and enjoy the beautiful views over Oologah lake.
Claremore, Oklahoma is also the home of many other celebrities including Patti Page, Astronaut Stuart Roosa, Sam Walton's wife Helen Robson and Playwright Lynn Riggs. Lynn Riggs wrote Green Grow the Lilacs which became the broadway musical and movie OKLAHOMA! which features Claremore. Visit the Claremore Museum of History to see the original Surrey with the Fringe on Top.
Claremore is home to the World's Largest privately owned gun collection which is housed in the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum. The Museum is near Downtown Claremore and has thousands of guns, like a Mauser C96 pistol that Han Solo's Blaster is based on and a Walther PPK like James Bond's.
